Admissions Criteria
1. The primary purpose of our Catholic School is to work in conjunction with the parent to foster the teaching, doctrine, and practice of Catholicism. Parents must agree to accept the commitment and responsibility of actively providing these teachings and practices for their child outside the school.
2. Non-Catholic students are required to actively participate in religion classes, religious celebrations, and liturgies while attending St. Marks.
3. Students must have displayed successful academic growth and appropriate behavior in previous school experiences. Children applying for grades 1-8 must submit a copy of the most recent report card and a most recent copy of standardized test results.
4. A major factor in the success of our school is the support and loyalty of our students and parents. All students and their parents must jointly agree to abide by the following: School Board Policies, Administrative Policies and Regulations, School Rules, and Classroom Rules.
5. Students entering must meet the following age requirements:
· PK3 – Child must be 3 by September 1st
· PK4 – Child must be 4 by September 1st
· Kindergarten – Child must be 5 by September 1st
· 1st Grade – Child must be 6 by September 1st
6. Registration Priority
1st Level of Acceptance
· Students and siblings of students who currently attend St. Mark and who qualify for re-registration
· Children of St. Mark Catholic School alumni
2nd Level of Acceptance
· Families(1) who qualify as Parishioner Status(2)
· Students who have displayed successful academic growth and behavior
· If students have previously attended public school, they must provide proof of consistent attendance in the Parish Faith Formation program
· Acceptance of new students into grades 7 and 8 is discouraged and will be considered on an individual circumstantial basis
· If families(1) are relocating from out-of-town, consideration and priority for registration will be based on years in previous Catholic Schools and Parish.
Notes:
(1) Family refers to parents and/or legal guardians.
(2) Parishioner Status
For purposes of registration of new families, the term “Parishioner” refers to Catholic families who have officially registered in the Parish and fulfilled the parish contribution quota (as evidenced by payment receipts or statements) of a minimum $600 for calendar year 2009, prorated to either the date of parish registration or school acceptance letter whichever is earlier.
For purposes of re-registration of current families, the term “Parishioner” refers to Catholic families officially registered in the Parish and who have fulfilled the parish contribution quota (as evidenced by payment receipts or statements) of a minimum $600 for calendar year 2009.
Calendar year refers to January 1 through December 31.
