In order to fulfill a need in the Catholic community of St. Mark the Evangelist Parish in Plano, Texas, St. Mark Catholic School was established in 1982.
The school opened, welcoming 113 children in grades Kindergarten through third. The school’s use of the educational building consisted of five classrooms, a small library, and the two-room main office. The church activity building provided space for physical education classes and a student lunchroom. The staff in 1982 was comprised of the Principal, Secretary, and six teachers.
The enrollment, staff, and facilities steadily increased as the population of Plano, in particular the Catholic population of Plano, increased. Presently, sixty staff members occupy the school plant consisting of three buildings totaling 84,000 square feet on a 14.7 acre site.
St. Mark Catholic School graduates and their families have continued to prove their commitment to Catholic education for over 40 years.
