St. Mark's Middle School serves students in 6th-8th grades. The program is based on a true middle school model that not only emphasizes academics, but also cognitive and affective development, student-oriented activities, experiential approaches to instruction, and exploratory elective classes.
Students attend classes on a block schedule (every other day for 90 minutes). This allows for more in-depth lesson time and also prepares students for similar high school schedules.
The emphasis in middle school is high school readiness. The program includes sequential and constructive programs of learning. Instructional delivery focuses on various learning styles, multiple intelligences, and student-centered activities. Basic to the curriculum is the study of Religion, Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, Health, Social Studies, Computer Literacy, Technology-Assisted Activities including Coding and Virtual/Augmented Reality, Spanish, Library, Physical Education, and Exploratory Electives.
Sacrament preparation is incorporated into the school day, and students are challenged to practice what they've learned in their daily lives.
Middle school classrooms are equipped with Smartboard technology, desktop computer stations, classroom iPads, and students utilize personal Chromebook laptops. Rotations in the SmartLab allow students to express what they learn in the classroom setting using hands-on, cutting-edge technology.
