The Respect Life Club is an after-school opportunity for students in grades 1st through 8th to grow in their appreciation of the dignity of all human life. It is unique to St. Mark Catholic School. Our mission is to:
• Promote an active culture of respect for human life through prayer, education, awareness, and participation in community service;
• Reinforce the St. Mark Catholic School mission to uphold the dignity of the person and to teach respect for others as unique individuals and as members of the body of Christ;
• Prepare our children to be leaders within Church, local, and global communities to protect human life through all of life’s stages, ages and levels of development.
Students experience guest speakers, fun activities, and numerous opportunities to serve others, while being reminded of the God given dignity of all human life.
Meetings are held monthly (September to May) from 3:30-4:30 PM and parents are always welcome to attend with their students. Approximately once per semester, students have the option of participating in an off-campus Respect Life activity.
Dues are $10 per family annually (covers snacks, speaker fees, and other materials).
God of life and love, you created us in your image and sent your Son to bring us life.
Instill in us a respect for all life, from conception to natural death.
Empower us to work for justice for the poor.
Nourish us that we may bring food to the hungry.
Inspire us to cherish the fragile life of the unborn.
Strengthen us to bring comfort to the chronically ill.
Teach us to treat the aging with dignity and respect.
Bring us one day into the glory of everlasting life.
We ask through Christ our Lord.
Amen.
NEWS
Thank you to everyone who participated in the 2015 "Hike For Life!" The St. Mark Catholic School "Respect Life Club" Team finished in
first place for fundraising for the second year in a row! But even better, our team raised $4,710 for mothers and babies! That's $1,600 more than last year. Our school and club were recognized at the opening ceremony of the Hike For Life, and Mr. James Widman, Coordinator for Plano HFL, said that our team was an inspiration to him and all of the hikers. We also had several door prize winners from St. Mark in the "Knowledge Quest" and "New to Life" search contest/drawing. Raising Cane's is donating gift certificates for all St. Mark students as a reward for surpassing our fundraising goal of $3,100, and Bahama Bucks is donating a snow cone party for RLC members at an upcoming club meeting. Congratulations to all who were involved!
