St. Mark Community Prayer Team

Mission

The mission of the Prayer Team is to provide ways for the St. Mark Community to come together and pray throughout the year.

What We Do

We accomplish this mission in several ways, including, but not limited to:

• A weekly Community Prayer Walk. The purpose of this event is to pray over the school and the community during the school year. Meet at the cross in front of the Narthex at 7:55 AM on Fridays when school is in session. After the walk, please attend the All School Mass at 8:30 AM. Watch the school calendar and the Weekly School Bulletin for specific dates.

• Rosary on Wednesdays in October. Join students in praying the rosary in October, the month of the rosary. Meet at 7:20 AM in the Cafetorium.

• Collecting individual intentions in the Prayer Box on the school prayer table, located in the Cafetorium breezeway. Anyone may submit a prayer intention. Intentions are taken to the Friday All School Mass as part of the offering.

If you are unable to attend Prayer Team events because of work or other obligations, we invite you to join us anyway ... simply pray from where you are.

Prayer to Begin a School Year*
God of wisdom and might,
we praise you for the wonder of our being,
for mind, body and spirit.
Be with our children as they begin
a new school year.
Bless them and their teachers and staff.
Give the strength and grace as their bodies grow;
wisdom and knowledge to their minds
as they search for understanding;
and peace and zeal to their hearts.
We ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord.

A Parent’s Prayer for Students
Dear Lord,
As my children leave for school,
I pray that you will keep them in your care.
Send your Spirit to open their minds
to all that is true and beautiful and good.
Help them to see the gifts and talents
you have given them and to use them well.
Help them to grow in knowledge and wisdom.
Help them to be kind to others
and lead others be kind to them.
Give their teachers patience and understanding
and help them teach what is just and true.
Send your angels to guide and guard my children
and to keep them from all harm.
Open their young hearts to your presence
and enfold them in your peace and protection.
Hold them in the palm of your hand
and bring them home safely at day's end.
Amen.

Prayer for Students*
Lord our God,
in your wisdom and love
you surround us with the mysteries of the universe.
Send your spirit upon these students
and fill them with your wisdom and blessings.
Grant that they may devote themselves to their studies
and draw ever closer to you,
the source of all knowledge.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen.
 
Prayer for Teachers*
Lord God, your spirit of wisdom fills the earth
and teaches us in your ways.
Look upon these teachers.
Let them strive to share their knowledge with gentle patience
and endeavor always to bring the truth to eager minds.
Grant that we may follow Jesus Christ, the way, the truth and the life,
forever and ever.
Amen.
