RESOURCE TEACHERS
St. Mark Catholic School offers the services of two Resource Teachers to students who demonstrate a need for support. Students identified by outside professional evaluations can bring individual assessments to a grade level team meeting. The team, including the parent, administrator, teacher, counselor, and support staff, collaborate to develop strategies, accommodations, and/or programs to support assessment recommendations.
Resource/Instructional Specialists are certified teachers who are trained in, and provide instruction in, the following programs. They also provide instructional support and content mastery support in the classroom for grade levels Kindergarten-8th.
*Touchphonics Program - A multisensory approach to phonics, word formation and spelling using visual, auditory, kinesthetic and tactile modalities to support the reading process
*The Herman Method - An Orton-Gillingham based multisensory approach to teaching specialized reading in small groups
*Scottish Rite/ Rite Flight Reading Rate and Comprehension Program
*Small Group Guided Reading Instruction
*Multisensory Handwriting Without Tears Program
*Multisensory Touchmath Program

GUIDANCE COUNSELOR
St. Mark Catholic School offers the services of an on-site Guidance Counselor who provides both crisis intervention/short term counseling services and screenings for possible learning differences. She also provides referrals for outside therapy and testing/evaluation. The Guidance Counselor is in charge of placement testing for new students as recommended. She also oversees any classroom accommodations recommended for students through testing. Please see the "Documents" section at left for more information about these services.

ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL
St. Mark's Assistant Principal is a Licensed Dyslexia Therapist and Certified Language Therapist (ALTA) and can provide support as needed.
